Reflection essay

During this year, I have gained a new knowledge which I didn't get in touch with before. At first, I had no idea what I-reflect means, not even knowing that "I" stands for computer. However, on the first day I started the class with Patsy, I knew I was going to like this subject for sure.

The assgignment that was given to me was to create my portfolio, I had to come out with certain aspects that reveals who I am, this took quiet some time to decide which topic is mostly suitable. Out of all the ideas came upon my mind, I finally choose the topic of "sushi" The reason why I choose this particular subject (food) is becasue I myself enjoy eating and sushi is definately my favourite food. Whenever, Wherever I take sushi with me.

The first step to create my portfolio was to come out with various questions and ideas to search on about under the heading of my chosen topic. This was called "Proposal", which my questions were :

  • What is sushi?
  • Do you like sushi? (survey)
  • What types of sushi?
  • How is sushi used in the media?
  • How to make sushi?
  • Is sushi really healthy for you?

Under the question of what is sushi, I have used the website Google to search for the right definition and also have combined my own basic knowledge as well, I wanted my audience to be aware precisely about the actual meaning of sushi. I wanted to talk about “What types of sushi” due to the fact that there are so much range of different flavours ; I have used many photos and pictures of sushi to stimulate the audiences' interest and this is an effective method to further develop readers' knowledge in-deth. For the quesition of "How to make sushi" I have used the short video-clip which provides clear instructions spoken in a stable tone of voice, uploading this clip onto the blog was a bit difficult duty for me, but at the end I have achieved it through persistence and a support from others.

The part which I like mostly about is the pictures of a women with the sushi all over her naked body. This was such an intriguing piece of art which I never have seen before in my life, as soon as I found this picture on the internet, I knew I had to talk about this in order to give a sense of humour and a lively atmosphere in my site.

I don't regret in doing this process due to the fact that it gave me an opportunity to consider in-depth about the things that expresses who I am. I have also learnt that analysing on a particular aspect of mine is one of the ways to self-disclose myself and also by visiting on other peoples' portfolio, I was able to acknowledge their professionalism and also helped me to build a relationship with them by commenting on their work.

There were no limitations or boundaries of how much I can type in during the process, in this way I was able to convey as much as information I like and felt a sense of belonging as this provides a space just for me. Using this particular blog site didn't effect me in such ways, was clear to follow through and there was a linked page of "help" which I always could click on when I am unsure about the system and later on in the future, I will definately use this site again when I need to make another portfolio, becasue using this blog site helped me to develop my technological skills and overall it's an effective tool to provide commentary or news on a particular subject; other fuctions as more personal online diaries.

Mariah : almost everyday

Jason : One day a week

  • Do you think sushi is good for you? why?

Mariah : of course, that's why I eat it so often

Suhyun : It's healthy for us, becasue the food originally is derived from asian countries.

I suspect that most asian countries purchase food good for our diet and health

  • What is your favourite type of sushi?

Mariah : the one that has cheese in it , it tastes just fine for Europeans like me

Suhyun : I don't like all of them, but when I eat it , I usually eat sashimi not seaweed

David : the one that contains prawns

Holly : anything that is rolled with vegatables
